The members of the Cancer Librarians Caucus of MLA stand in solidarity with the African American Medical Librarians Alliance (AAMLA) Caucus and our African American, Black, and Afro-Latinx colleagues.
We support the Black Lives Matter movement in the collective fight for freedom, liberty, and justice, and we recognize the violent and oppressive structures underpinning our society and the pain and inequity these structures cause.
As cancer librarians, we pledge we will advocate in our daily lives and workplaces to highlight the racial disparities in cancer incidence, cancer survivorship, and clinical trials participation by speaking to the racism and implicit biases that affect Black and other People of Color cancer patients.
In solidarity,
Kendra Godwin, Chair
Robin O’Hanlon, Chair-Elect
Adela V. Justice, AHIP, Past Chair
