In 2020, MLA and MLA caucuses and chapters issued statements on important social and political issues in response to significant events. MLA also issued its customary statements and positions on information issues and policies directly related to MLA’s mission in health information.

The Board of Directors and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of the Medical Library Association (MLA) support the statement made by our colleagues at the American Library Association (ALA) and join them in condemning the violent attempts to undermine our democracy on January 6.

The Medical Library Association (MLA) expresses deep sorrow, compassion, anger, and words of hope in response to the death of George Floyd and many other victims of police brutality. We share the horror and outrage being expressed throughout our nation.
