Director of the Health Sciences Library in Woodland Hills, California.

Why is MLA important to you?

I have been a member of MLA since 1974, and MLA has assisted in my growth as a medical librarian.

Why did you become a librarian?

As a junior in high school, I took a class on the HS library and worked in the HS library. I loved it so much I decided to be a librarian.

What was your first library job or first professional position?

Ingham Medical Center, Lansing, Michigan.

What is your advice to someone taking on a new role in leadership in MLA or in some other capacity?

Please take a role to expand your insights on all aspects of medical library work.

What has been the most interesting project you have worked on?

Developing the Consumer Health collection, which included information on LGBTQ+ materials.

What do you consider to be the most pressing issues or trends in librarianship?

Electronic age is changing the way the public views libraries. As a medical librarian, we need to adapt and change for the future of medical libraries.

Travel to Ireland.

What do you do in your spare time?

I take walks, go to the beach, and work on my garden.

What is the best thing you’ve read/watched/listened to recently?

What Can I Do? My Path from Climate Despair to Action by Jane Fonda.

Outgoing, positive, experimental, creative, focused.

Is there anything about you that others might be surprised to know?

I grew up on a farm in Michigan.

What are you most proud of?

Being who I am and living life to the fullest.
