Welcome to the 2024 Cunningham Memorial International Fellow

The Medical Library Association (MLA), The International Cooperation Caucus (ICC), and the ICC Cunningham Fellowship Itinerary Subcommittee are so excited to welcome our 2024 Cunningham Memorial International Fellow!

This year, we are hosting Dr. Dominic Agyei Dankwah, Assistant Librarian at the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho, Ghana. For his fellowship, he will be spending three weeks visiting various institutions and connecting with fellow health sciences information professionals in Washington D.C., Las Vegas, Portland, and Seattle. 

Dr. Dankwah’s travels across the country to meet and connect with colleagues across the United States will lead to the MLA ‘24 annual conference in Portland, Oregon and will culminate in virtual connections with various informational professionals well-versed in health sciences librarianship curricula and pedagogy.

Dr. Dominic Agyei Dankwah is a distinguished health sciences librarian with the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho, Ghana, dedicated to reshaping the landscape of medical librarianship in the country. Dr. Dankwah holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Information Studies, a Master of Arts degree in Library Studies from the University of Ghana, Legon, and a PhD in Information Science from the University of South Africa.

In his current role as Assistant Librarian, Dr. Dankwah serves as the leader of the Electronic Library and Training Support Department at UHAS. Dr. Dankwah's scholarly contributions include research in the areas of health information literacy, library management, and policy challenges in minority languages and he is published in esteemed scientific journals and book chapters. Moreover, his expertise is recognized by his role as a peer reviewer for reputable journals such as IGI-Global and Global Knowledge, Memory and Communication. Dr. Dankwah seeks to broaden his expertise through training in curriculum development and grantsmanship. He envisions a curriculum that embraces technology and contemporary trends, laying the foundation for a transformative educational experience in Ghana.
