Recruitment for JMLA Editor-in-Chief Is Underway

MLA is encouraging applications for Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of the Journal of the Medical Library Association (JMLA). Working with a team of associate editors, a strong editorial board, and supported by MLA headquarters staff, the EIC has final editorial authority over JMLA content.

The EIC is a volunteer position, with an initial three-year appointment that may be renewed for a second term. The EIC has the opportunity to make a powerful impact on the course of scholarly communication, particularly within health sciences librarianship.

We've had some conversations in recent weeks about what kinds of support (financial or otherwise) applicants might feel are necessary, and we're trying to explore this further. It's a big job, and we want to be more confident that we're not missing good candidates. If you're a person who might like to take it on, but feel you can't for some reason, please contact T. Scott Plutchak (chair of the search committee) at splutchak@gmail.com so we can explore what might be done to make it more possible or appealing.

Interested individuals should consult the Call for Applications and the EIC Position Description for application information and are strongly encouraged to contact the chair of the search committeeT. Scott Plutchak, with any questions, comments, or suggestions.
