Hi ICS members,

I can’t wait to see all of you in Toronto! MLA 2016: Mosaic—Be a part of the big picture in Toronto, Canada starts next week and we have lots of ICS activities for you to check out!

When you arrive drop by the International Welcome Desk for ICS events tailored to helping our international visitors feel oriented and involved (and technically everyone is an international visitor for this conference!). Want to be involved? Sign up here http://bit.ly/1TjvTMf to welcome visitors! We could especially use some volunteers on Saturday! We’re also looking for our bilingually talented members who would be willing to be help those who run into a language barrier.

The ICS Business Meeting will be bright and early on Sunday, May 15th in Room 206A. The meeting will start at 7:30am but you are more than welcome to come early to mingle. Please bring your own refreshments.

At noon on Sunday, will be our first Dine Around! Sign up sheets will be available at the International Welcome Desk or you can contact Kathy at kwan@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov.

Also on Sunday will be the ICS Open Forum from 4:30pm-5:25 pm in Room 202B. We’ll discuss all of MLA’s International Initiatives. Immediately following Open Forum will be the International Visitors Reception from 6:00pm-7:00pm in the Fairmont Royal York Ballroom sponsored by NEJM. Please stop by the NEJM booth to thank them for their generous sponsorship!

On Monday, May 16th you can check out the ICS Section Poster from 2:00pm-3:25pm in Exhibit Hall A. Drop by and say hi!

Also on Monday, you are invited to join International Cooperation members and friends for a no-host dinner at Pizza Libretto. On Tuesday, join us from 3:00pm-4:25 pm in Room 104C to discuss thought-provoking intercultural questions and get inspired! Co-sponsored by the LGBT SIG, the African American Medical Librarians Alliance, the Public Services Section, and the Health Disparities SIG, this year’s program is a Cross-Cultural Mosaic Café! Facilitators will rotate attendees through round table discussions on topics of intercultural experiences, programs, and initiatives. I’m so excited to see you at the conference! If you’re interested in volunteering for any of the above activities, please let me know.
