All MLA | SLA ’23 Round 1 Abstract Submissions now due October 31, 2022

MLA | SLA ’23 is the perfect platform to create engaging conference sessions and share your innovative ideas and knowledge with your colleagues!

MLA and SLA abstract review teams seek session abstracts that will educate and inspire medical librarians, special librarians and information professionals. Our conference will feature 100+ different education sessions to choose from. All Round 1 submissions for MLA | SLA ’23 are now due October 31 at 11:59 p.m., eastern time.

Call for Submissions: Full Details

There will be two abstract submission rounds for MLA | SLA ’23. The two rounds give authors the opportunity to receive feedback from reviewers and consider revising and resubmitting their proposals for the second round as posters or lightning talks.

  • Round 1 (Now open through October 31):
  • Both MLA and SLA communities and all individual members are encouraged to submit proposals in any of these five categories:
    • Program description papers: Abstracts describe the creation, improvement, and assessment of products, programs, technologies, administrative practices, or services conducted by librarians and information professionals. Papers focus on one of the following areas of practice: Clinical Support, Education, Health Equity & Global Health, Information Management, Information Services, Innovation & Research Practice, or Professionalism & Leadership. (Previously only an MLA meeting category.)
    • Research papers: Abstracts report on designing, conducting, and analyzing a research project. Papers focus on one of the following areas of practice: Clinical Support, Education, Health Equity & Global Health, Information Management, Information Services, Innovation & Research Practice, or Professionalism & Leadership. (Previously only an MLA meeting category.)
    • Immersion sessions: 90-minute (max) “deep dives” into a single topic. The format may include a panel presentation or group discussion and should include audience engagement or other appropriate activities. (Previously only an MLA meeting category.)
    • Contributed papers: Address library science, information management, or other issues related to the administration of special libraries and/or the provision of their services. (Previously only an SLA meeting category.)
    • Education sessions: Engaging sessions that include live audience Q/A. The session length is 45 or 90 minutes. Sessions address library science, information management, or other issues related to the administration of special libraries and/or the provision of their services. The 90-minute format must include elements of interaction with the audience (group work, breakouts, etc.). in addition to live Q/A. (Previously only an SLA meeting category.)
  • Round 2 (Open December 15 - January 26):
    • Lightning Talk sessions will be held during live virtual sessions only and not at the in-person meeting. (Previously, only an MLA meeting category. Now for MLA | SLA’ 23.)
    • Poster sessions will be held in person only. (Previously, only an MLA meeting category. Now for MLA | SLA’ 23.)
