Exploratory Research on Applying AI Tools in Medical Literature Mining and Navigation

This webinar explores whether current scholarly AI tools such as Scite, Openknowledgemaps, Research Rabbit, Elicit, and Litmaps can support large-scale literature navigation, research gap identification, and the presentation of supporting and opposing evidence in health sciences libraries. The aim is to assess their capabilities and limitations in these workflows and to identify potential strategies for enhancing and integrating library literature search services and collections, for example using these tools to map topics and visualize citation relationships. Participants will walk through typical library literature search workflows and see where these tools can be incorporated, including for citation mapping, topic navigation, and full-text linking, while also discussing the limitations and process challenges observed for each tool to inform practical integration strategies.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Compare the main features, strengths, and limitations of several scholarly AI literature tools.
  • Conduct exploratory topic mapping using AI tools.
  • Use AI tools to identify potential evidence gaps and key citation patterns in a topic area.
  • Evaluate which AI tools best fit library or research workflows.

Audience

Health sciences librarians, research librarians, and information professionals interested in AI tools.

Presenter:
