The clock is ticking! Paper and Immersion Session proposals for MLA ’27: Elevating Impact in Denver are due by October 29, 2026. We encourage you to submit early to avoid the last-minute rush and ensure ample time for any necessary support or revisions.
Submission Guidance and Support
MLA offers several resources to guide you through the submission process:
These resources provide guidance on proposal requirements, abstract development, and submission best practices to help you put forward your strongest proposal.
Individuals and MLA communities are encouraged to submit proposals in the following types of content:
Contributed Papers
Contributed papers are 15-minute presentations and fall into two categories:
- Program Papers focus on the development, implementation, improvement, or assessment of products, services, technologies, administrative practices, or programs led by librarians and information professionals.
- Research Papers present the design, methodology, findings, and analysis of a research project.
Immersion Sessions
Immersion sessions are 75-minute interactive experiences designed to explore a topic in greater depth. These sessions may include panel discussions, facilitated conversations, workshops, demonstrations, or other creative formats. Audience engagement is a key component of immersion sessions, providing opportunities for participants to learn, discuss, and apply new ideas.
MLA ’27 Presenter Discount!
Don’t miss this opportunity to present at MLA ’27 in Denver! Presenters may be eligible for a $75 in-person registration discount. Discounts are available as follows:
- Up to 4 presenters per Immersion Session.
- Up to 2 presenters per Paper, Lightning Talk, or Poster.
Please note that this discount cannot be combined with other registration discounts, including student registration rates or one-day registration.
Don’t forget to submit by the deadline!
Round 1 submission for contributed papers and immersion sessions are due by:
October 29, 2026, at 10:59 p.m., central time/11:59 p.m., eastern time/8:59 p.m., pacific time
Notifications regarding proposal decisions will be sent in December 2026.
