Nomination Season is Here!
Submitted by: Chana Kraus-Friedberg
It’s that time of year again! Applications and nominations are open for this year’s round of MLA awards. The deadline for these is Nov. 2, 2026. If you have a colleague who’s doing incredible work, this is your chance to nominate them!
Every year MLA offers awards for multiple kinds of achievements, such as:
- Written works (Richards, Eliot, Meyerhoff, and Rittenhouse Prizes);
- Excellence in areas like hospital librarianship (Colaiani Award), consumer health (Consumer Health Librarian of the Year Award), collection development (Darling Medal), and others;
- General career achievement (MLA Fellows, Doe Lecture, Brodman Award, Noyes Award, among others).
There are awards for everyone from early-career librarians to proven leaders to chapters/caucuses. You can also apply to participate yourself in programs such as Rising Stars and the Research Training Institute. This isn’t a comprehensive list of all available awards, but you can find them all on the MLA Awards and Honors page. Note that before you can access information about individual awards, either via the links above or the Awards and Honors page, you’ll need to sign into MLANET.
Please nominate a colleague!
