Naomi Miller – February 13, 2026
The medical librarian and health communications community has lost a leader. Naomi Miller died on February 13, 2026.
Many of us know her from her tireless advocacy for clear health communications. She joined the National Library of Medicine (NLM) in 1989 and was one of the creators of MedlinePlus.gov, which launched in 1998. Naomi shepherded MedlinePlus through its many transformations to reflect the changing needs of patients and anyone seeking sound health information. She was a mentor to so many of us, generously sharing her knowledge and expertise. She retired from her role as Manager of Consumer Health Information at NLM in 2013 and left an indelible mark on health communication and medical librarianship.
Many thanks to colleagues and other retired NLM staff for letting us know of Naomi’s passing.
