The Technology in Education Caucus (TEC) is pleased to offer a free session for all: “Best Practices and Instruction Methods for Prompt Generation in ChatGPT,” led by Joelle Mornini (she/her) and Alicia Lillich from the ORS Division of Library Services, National Institutes of Health Library. This session will equip participants with essential skills for effectively interacting with Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT. Learn how to optimize prompt patterns and design training that supports AI adoption in instruction and services.

This session will cover prompt engineering, effective prompt patterns, and practical applications of ChatGPT and other LLMs in biomedical research. Participants will see a live demonstration of ChatGPT, explore ethical considerations, and discuss instructional strategies for AI integration.

The session will introduce the article “A Prompt Pattern Catalog to Enhance Prompt Engineering with ChatGPT,” exploring structured techniques to improve AI-generated responses. Using a scenario on teaching college-age interns about predatory journals, presenters will demonstrate effective prompt patterns and strategies for instructional use.
