Help Shape MLA ’27: Volunteer as an Abstract Reviewer

Help shape the educational program for MLA ’27: Elevating Impact by serving as an abstract reviewer. The 2027 National Programming Committee invites MLA members to participate in the peer review process for contributed papers, posters, and lightning talks.

As a reviewer, you’ll have a unique opportunity to contribute to the conference experience by identifying high-quality content, supporting your colleagues, and helping showcase innovative ideas from across the profession.

Complete the MLA ’27 Reviewer Signup Form by October 20, 2026, to be considered.

Review Timeline

This year, reviews will take place in two rounds:

  • Round 1: Contributed Papers – Review Period: October 30-November 13, 2026
  • Round 2: Posters and Lightning Talks – Review Period: January 25-February 5, 2027

Reviewers are encouraged, but not required, to participate in both rounds.

What to Expect

Time Commitment: Approximately three hours per review round to read and score assigned abstracts.

Review Process: Reviews will be completed through an online system that is available 24/7 throughout each review period, allowing you to participate when it is most convenient for your schedule.

Reviewer Training

A reviewer training session will be held on October 21, 2026. Details will be provided to all registered reviewers closer to the date.

Can’t attend live? No problem. The training will be recorded and available throughout the review period. By signing up, you will automatically receive an invitation and access to the training resources.
