Health Humanities Caucus Presents a Discussion of Worm by Edel Rodriguez
Submitted by: Olivia DiLeonardo
Discover Edel Rodriguez’s graphic novel Worm: A Cuban American Odyssey in recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month!
Join us on Thursday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m., eastern time (Zoom link provided below) for our quarterly Health Humanities Caucus event as we read an excerpt from Edel Rodriguez’s award-winning graphic novel about his family’s emigration to America from Cuba in 1980 on the Mariel boatlift. Castro referred to those who left Cuba as ‘worms’, hence the title of this beautifully illustrated graphic memoir. We will encounter a chapter together during this session, followed by discussion.
Edel Rodriguez was dubbed ‘America’s Illustrator-in-Chief’ by Forbes Magazine; his illustrations have been featured on the covers of Time, New Statesman, Der Spiegel, and The New Yorker. He is widely considered to be one of the pre-eminent political artists of our time.
