Call for Nominations: 2027/2028 Election
Submitted by: Heather Holmes, MLA President
The MLA Nominating Committee invites you to recommend a colleague (or yourself!) for President-elect or a position on the MLA Board of Directors. Please complete the recommendation form and share as much detail as possible about why your nominee would be an exceptional candidate. Self-recommendations are welcome and encouraged.
What the Nominating Committee Looks For
When building the election slate, the committee considers candidates who demonstrate:
- Active participation and membership in MLA
- Vision and strategic thinking
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- A collaborative approach
- Awareness of emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges facing the profession
- A commitment to MLA’s values of fairness, representation, and belonging
Commitment & Support
Currently, the Board meets four times a year, with two meetings held online and two in person. Funding is available to help offset travel expenses.
This Year’s Slate
The committee will select:
- 2 candidates for President-elect
- 6 candidates for 3 open Board member positions
Selections will reflect professional and leadership experience, MLA involvement, and diversity across regions and communities.
For reference, please review the MLA ByLaws for details on the roles of President and Board of Directors. Additional information about MLA elections and governance is available on MLANET under About MLA: Organization. You may also find it helpful to browse our list of current and past MLA Leaders and Staff.
Get Involved
We encourage every member to consider stepping into a leadership role or championing a deserving colleague. An association is only as strong as its members, and the most important qualification for leadership is the desire to make MLA the best it can be.
