Shannon Bohle
Shannon Bohle is a medical librarian and AI practitioner with over a decade of service in the Medical Library Association (MLA). A member since 2013, she holds AHIP-Senior status and CHIS Level II. She has served in multiple leadership roles, including Chair-Elect, Chair, and Immediate Past Chair of the History of the Health Sciences Caucus (2022–2026), and Chair of the Gaming in Adult Learning Caucus (2020–2021).
Shannon has a strong background in artificial intelligence, developing early natural language chatbots for library search. Her chatbot Plutchik was recognized by MLA as an innovative contribution and published in the Journal of the Medical Library Association. Earlier, her project Curiosity AI placed second in a White House–sponsored international competition.
She has also contributed to large-scale AI development with Google (Gemini) and Facebook (LLaMA), and recently completed a certificate in Applied Generative AI from Johns Hopkins University. Her work bridges AI innovation, education, and leadership in the health information field.
Angela Spencer
Angela Spencer, MLIS, AHIP, is a health sciences reference librarian at Saint Louis University where she serves as the liaison to the School of Medicine and Clinical Services. Angela teaches within the School of Medicine and supports systematic reviews. Angela has started teaching around AI in her coursework and using AI in some of her day-to-day practice.
Throughout her career, she has been active at the local, regional, and national levels. Angela has a wide range of research interests but is primarily focused on advocating the importance of health sciences librarians in both academic and hospital settings. When not working, she organizes a hiking/walking group and enjoys listening to live music.
