Stipend Payment
DIRECT DEPOSIT: Payee receives an email from Bill.com with the following information:
- Kenneth Graham on behalf of MLA-Medical Library Association:
- invite@hq.bill.com
- Kenneth is the MLA accountant: kenneth.graham@mci-group.com or kenneth.graham@wearemci.com
- MLA is managed by MCI Group
- “Get Started” link will be included for payee to securely enter account information in Bill.com.
- MLA will not see bank details.
PAPER CHECK: Mailed to payee from Bill.com in California.
FEDERAL W9: MLA generates 1099s for individuals who received stipends in excess of $600 in a calendar year. If the $300 is the only stipend from MLA, then no 1099. If the individual received another MLA award or payment, say for $500, then $300 + $500 = $800 which is higher than $600. So, MLA is required to send a 1099 (for $800) and a federal W9 needs to be submitted.
