Nominating Committee

Established prior to September 1974 (from Article V, sec. 1–2 of the bylaws); Revised December 1987, January 1992, January 2024.

The Nominating Committee prepares the annual slate of at least two nominees for President-Elect and for each Director elected by the membership at large whose term expires. The slate is accompanied by appropriate support documentation according to the policies established by the Board of Directors.

The Nominating Committee is comprised of nine voting members elected by MLA members, and the Immediate Past President serving as non-voting chair. The Board of Directors, Caucuses, and Chapters submit to the Nominating Committee the names of potential candidates for Nominating Committee membership for the following year, according to the procedures established by the Board of Directors, and in compliance with Caucus policies and Chapter bylaws.
