Are You a New Librarian? Why You Should Submit a Proposal for MLA ‘24 and New Drop-In Sessions

The 2024 National Program Committee (NPC) invites colleagues who are newer to the profession to submit a contributed paper abstract for MLA ‘24.

Hearing from new and diverse voices will enhance the conference experience and benefit our profession. Presenting at MLA ‘24 is a good career step because you gain experience, demonstrate professional growth, and enhance connections to your colleagues.

What are Contributed Papers?

Contributed Papers are 10-12-minute presentations that fall into two broad categories:

  • Program papers: Abstracts describe the creation, improvement, and assessment of products, programs, technologies, administrative practices, or services conducted by librarians and information professionals.
  • Research papers: Abstracts report on designing, conducting, and analyzing a research project.

MLA also provides additional support for librarians who are submitting for the first time in several ways:

New for MLA ’24!

If you are interested in submitting an abstract, the Contributed Content Working Group (CCWG) of the NPC invites you to the upcoming MLA ’24 Drop-In Sessions. Get your questions answered and receive feedback on the submission process. Select the date that works for you and RSVP below to add to your calendar:

Drop-in Sessions:

These sessions are informal opportunities. You can “drop-in” and stay as long as you like to get your questions answered. You do not need to attend the full session. Sessions will not be recorded.

Don’t forget, Round 1 abstracts are due October 26, 2023, at 11:59 p.m., eastern time.
