Financial Assistance for MLA Members
to Attend MLA | SLA ‘23

MLA makes financial assistance available to help MLA members attend its annual conference. Be sure to check with local chapters for additional funding opportunities.  

In-Person Conference Grants 

Key Application Dates

  • December 6: applications open
    • round one submission notifications will be sent on December 6
  • January 31: applications close at midnight (central)
  • February: jury review and Board approval
  • March 15: notifications will be sent to all applicants 
  • April 14: early-bird registration ends at midnight (central)

Priority Consideration

  • The applicant is a first-time attendee at an in-person MLA annual conference.
  • The applicant is presenting (or has submitted) a paper, poster, or lightning talk for this annual conference.


  • The applicant must:
    • be a member of MLA (2023 paid membership) - see membership options.
    • be currently employed as a health information professional.
    • have between two and five years of experience as a health sciences librarian at the time of the annual conference.
    • complete an application including a 200-word statement.
  • No more than one awardee from any given institution will be awarded a travel grant in a single year.
