MLA Federal Library Caucus Statement

The Federal Library Caucus comprises librarians from various governmental agencies and allies. We recognize the inherent dignity and equality of all people.

The Federal Library Caucus stands united with the statement of the African American Medical Librarians Alliance (AAMLA) Caucus of MLA.

We believe it is our sacred duty to serve the needs of all Americans, while celebrating our diversity.

On June 16, 1858, Abraham Lincoln accepted the Illinois state Republican nomination for senator, where he declared, “a house divided against itself cannot stand.”

As the disabled, Caucasian mother of a beautiful Hispanic, Black daughter, I’ve seen the toll societal prejudice and discrimination exacts on an individual.

People of every race have made this nation what it is today. Many have fought and died for the rights of citizens to peacefully protest, assemble, and speak their minds, which is as true today as it ever was.

We add our voices to the collective voices of AAMLA members who are committed to using one united voice to bring about change in the profession and the association.

And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. —Colossians 3:14.

Very Respectfully Submitted,
Marilyn G. Teolis, AHIP, Chair
Sarah L. Carnes, AHIP, Immediate Past Chair
Sarah Clarke, AHIP, Chair-Elect
