New “Careers in Health Sciences Librarianship” Brochure Available

Submitted by: Amy Chatfield, Chair, MLA Professional Recruitment and Retention Committee

Many MLA members participate in career fairs, tabling events, or job fairs intended to introduce our profession to students or librarians seeking new careers.

To support your efforts to demystify and grow the profession, MLA’s Professional Recruitment and Retention Committee (PRRC) has created a new brochure, “Careers in Health Sciences Librarianship.” The brochure explains the profession broadly, describes the education and skills needed to become a health sciences librarian, and highlights resources available from MLA to support library school students and new professionals.

This electronic brochure is designed for sharing in virtual and in-person events: it’s available free online from MLA’s Career Resources page, and is formatted to print onto US Letter-sized paper. MLA members are encouraged to link to, print out, and share this brochure with students at any level who are considering librarianship.
