Getting Around in Milwaukee: Transportation Options
Submitted by: Barbara Ruggeri
We’re heading to Milwaukee in just four short weeks! Join us in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for MLA ’26 from May 19-22, where Cultured Collaborations highlights the transformational partnerships and evolution of the health information sciences community. While we are in Milwaukee, there are a variety of options available for getting around. Here are a few highlights and apps to make easy connections!
Milwaukee Public Transportation
- MCTS Buses (Milwaukee County Transit System). Use the Umo mobile app for route info and buy your fare directly! For people with low vision, receive the Aira free smartphone app for assistance in riding MCTS.
- Ride the downtown streetcar “The Hop” for free! About a 10-minute walk from The Baird Center, catch The Hop M line headed south (either City Hall or Wisconsin Ave stops) and ride it to the entrance of The Public Market in Milwaukee’s Historic 3rd Ward.
- Enjoy the 3-mile Milwaukee pedestrian walkway, which connects the Beerline B neighborhood through Downtown to the Historic Third Ward. Get your selfie with the “Bronze Fonz”!
Ride Share
- Uber and Lyft are available. Use code VISITMKE for $10 off two rides from Lyft.
- Taxi with zTrip. Book a ride with no surge pricing.
- Bike Rideshare with Bubblr Bikes! Get a 72-hour Visit Milwaukee pass with a bike reservation. If you are already a member of BCycle at home, you can use your home pass to check out a bike.
- Dockless scooters from Lime and Spin are available in Milwaukee.
- Walking!

Registration & Official Hotel Room Block
MLA offers individual and institutional group registration rates. For more information, visit MLANET.
Don’t forget to also book your hotel through the official room block before the upcoming deadlines. The Hyatt Regency is the official host and is directly connected via the skywalk closest to the Registration Center for MLA ’26.
- April 24, 2026: Milwaukee City Center & SpringHill Suites Milwaukee Downtown
- May 1, 2026: Hyatt Regency Milwaukee (host hotel) & DoubleTree by Hilton Milwaukee Downtown
Beware of unauthorized hotel solicitations: Each year, we receive reports that other companies are posing as official vendors for conference hotel reservations. This is the only official room block link for MLA ’26. Do not give out your information if you are contacted by other third-party companies offering hotel assistance.
