Volunteer roles & leadership

  • Donald A. B. Lindberg Research Fellowship

The Medical Library Association (MLA) believes that access to high quality information improves decision-making by health professionals, scientists, and consumers and is a major determinant in the quality of care and improved health for the nation and the world. MLA is interested in supporting individuals whose research will extend the underlying knowledge base of health sciences information management or enhance the practice of the information professions, particularly health sciences librarianship.

  • MLA Social Media Channels

MLA and MLA members are active on the following social media channels.

  • Connect with an MLA Special Interest Group (SIG)

MLA's Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are ad hoc groups open to all members of the association. SIGs range from a series of informal meetings on a specific, short-term issue to an established subgroup within an MLA section. Further information on SIGs is available in the SIG Manual, available from Section Council. To contact a SIG, please look up the SIG convener in "MLA Leadership Rosters."

  • Join an MLA Section

MLA members may join one or more of the following 21 sections of the association. To join or add a section, join when you join MLA! Current members, log in and see the "My MLANET" menu to add section memberships.

  • Access MLA Section Information

MLA sections represent the many subfields and areas of specialization of the association’s membership, including medical informatics and consumer health. Sections meet annually and share information during the year through informal networking and newsletters. MLA also sponsors informal special interest groups (SIGs).
