Research Services Librarian (Medical Assistant or Medical Associate Librarian)
The Harriet F. Ginsburg Health Sciences Library at the University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Medicine (UCF COM) is seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking research services librarian. This is a non-tenure earning, medical assistant or medical associate librarian faculty position. The research services librarian will develop and implement strategic initiatives that enhance research, scholarship, and innovation within the College of Medicine community. The successful candidate will be someone with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive and productive collaborations with the College of Medicine community.
- Develop and manage innovative services and resources that support the research needs of UCF COM students, faculty, and staff.
- Collaborate with researchers to enhance their research impact, offering expertise in topics such as data management, literature searches, systematic reviews, and open access publishing.
- Conduct workshops and one-on-one consultations to educate and assist users in effective research strategies, and digital initiatives (e.g., AI) relevant to health sciences.
- Monitor and evaluate trends in health sciences research, scholarship, and digital initiatives to advise on library strategy and service development.
- Provide instruction to students, faculty, and staff on the use of library resources and citation management tools such as EndNote.
- Serve as a statewide representative to research, scholarly communication, and/or digital initiatives-related groups and ad hoc committees as needed.
- Serve as Personal Librarian to assigned medical students.
- Participate in library assessment activities.
- Staff the library’s single-point service desk as needed to provide support to UCF COM students, faculty, staff, and public patrons in-person and virtually via email or screen-share.
- Collaborate with other faculty librarians and library staff to provide effective reference, instruction, and outreach services for UCF COM students, faculty, staff, and public patrons.
- Contribute to professional organizations and publications.
- There is an expectation of achieving provisional Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) certification within one year of hire.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution.
- Demonstrated experience with providing research support services including data management and/or literature/systematic review services.
- Demonstrated experience in instruction of student, faculty, or staff library patrons.
- Demonstrated ability to develop publications, training materials, workshops, conferences, and other tools relevant to research, library technology, and digital initiatives.
- Demonstrated knowledge and interest in innovative library technologies and services.
- Demonstrated experience providing scholarly communication support including publication process and editorial review.
- Prior experience working in a Health Sciences Library.
$65,000-$75,000
