JMLA Changing Submission Categories
The JMLA publishes manuscripts in a variety of categories. To better meet the needs of our readers and authors, we have recently redefined some of the most frequently used categories. We’ve added two new categories, Research Reports and Systematic Reviews, and are eliminating one category, Brief Communications.
Our new category of Research Reports incorporates the exploratory research papers formerly published as Brief Communications. Project descriptions formerly published in Brief Communications will now appear in our Case Studies format, which has been revised slightly to accommodate this change. Systematic Reviews will be used for literature reviews that take a systematic approach to analyzing previously published research on a topic. The Full-Length Article category has not been modified.
Details of each of these new categories appear on our Information for Authors webpage. We will be accepting papers in both old and new categories for the next couple of months, to simplify the transition for our authors. If you have questions, please contact the JMLA editor, Susan Starr.
