The purpose is to create and enhance opportunities for medical librarians to address health disparities and inequities.

The MLA Health Disparities Caucus will:

1. Serve as a resource for MLA members related to health disparities and health inequities.
2. Promote awareness of literature and data to MLA members related to health disparities and health inequities.
3. Identify potential collaborations with MLA caucuses and other MLA governance bodies to develop MLA projects and initiatives aimed at addressing health disparities and health inequities.
4. Provide a vehicle for MLA groups and members to utilize the knowledge, skills and abilities of medical librarians in the effort to assess and address health disparities and health inequities.
5. Highlight and recognize the ongoing efforts of MLA members currently focused on issues of health disparities and health inequities.
6. Create and enhance partnerships with other organizations focused on promoting awareness of health disparities and health inequities.
