The academy recognizes exemplary professional performance throughout a health sciences librarian’s career. Academy membership is awarded to health information professionals who have distinguished themselves in important areas of the 7 professional competency areas and through continuing education, job experience, and leadership in the profession.
Senior AHIP members must have five years of professional experience in the health information field following the master's degree and must submit 80 points in professional accomplishments in the last five years. Of these, no more than 50 points may be sponsored instruction, although all 80 points may be from professional accomplishment. At least 5 of the 80 professional accomplishment points must be from professional organization activities, not necessarily MLA.
Visit the Academy website at mlanet.org/ahip for further information, instructions, necessary forms, and documentation requirements.
