The Medical Library Association (MLA) and Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries have recommended that the National Library of Medicine receive $395,110,000 in FY 2017. In statements to the Senate and House Appropriations Subcommittees on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education & Related Agencies, the associations highlighted new and ongoing services that benefit the public, health and health information professionals, including:
- NLM's Zika Virus Health Information Resource Guide
- The updated Radiation Emergency Medical Management web page
- Reorganization of National Network of Libraries of Medicine beginning with the 2016-2021 funding cycle
- Expansion of ClinicalTrials.gov, and efforts to increase transparency of results reporting and clarify regulations for registration and results submission
- Launch of MedPix®
