The Journal of the Medical Library Association (JMLA) Virtual Projects Section Advisory Committee is seeking current, innovative, and notable technology projects in health sciences libraries for the 2024 JMLA Virtual Projects Section. The Virtual Project Section appears on an annual basis in an issue of JMLA and recognizes projects that exemplify the range and direction of current technology developments in the dissemination of health sciences information. In the past the Virtual Projects Section was shared in October but changes are underway for future Virtual Projects Sections to appear in the January issue, for this reason our timeline has changed.
To be considered for the Virtual Projects Section, submit a 200-word abstract of your virtual project, including why it is innovative/notable, and provide relevant online project resources (if possible) that describe or demonstrate the project. Technology projects must have been completely implemented within the past two years. Submissions of virtual projects may demonstrate either the implementation of a new technology or a new application of an older technology. These projects should demonstrate how libraries have leveraged technology to manage and create new collections and services to improve user communities. Examples of current technology trends of interest include but are not limited to:
- Artificial Intelligence (i.e. Generative AI, Research Assistant AI, etc.)
- Digital Diversity Inclusion & Access
- Hybrid or HyFlex Workplace or Instruction
- Low-code and No-code (LCNC) Technologies or other coding or programming applications
- Online Teaching including Micro-credentialing
- Data Related Services
