Molly Knapp, AHIP, is the new editor of Medical Reference Services Quarterly (MRSQ). Knapp succeeds Jonquil Feldman, AHIP who served over 5 years as editor. MRSQ was established in 1982 by M. Sandra Wood, FMLA, who spent over 30 years building the peer-reviewed publication into a highly respected journal for health sciences and hospital librarians. While the Journal of the Medical Library Association (JMLA) focuses on advancing research-based knowledge in health sciences librarianship, MRSQ is about the practice of librarianship, highlighting projects, health informatics education, emerging technologies, collection development, library management, and development of new classes and services. The MRSQ Editorial Board and section editors are nationally recognized leaders in hospital and health sciences libraries.
Knapp said it is an honor to continue Wood and Feldman’s legacy with a journal that is almost as old as herself. Her editorship begins with volume 42, issue 3, in 2023.
MRSQ is seeking submissions for volume 42(4), with a deadline of September 10 and beyond. If you are interested in serving on the MRSQ Editorial Board, or as a section editor for Informatics Education, please contact Knapp. Letters of interest from potential authors who do not have a full manuscript but would like feedback on an idea are also appreciated. Serving as an editorial board member as well as publishing in MRSQ qualify for AHIP credit.
Knapp will offer a brief “Publishing Tips and Tricks” session at the annual SCC Writing Retreat at the 2023 Joint Chapter Meeting of Southern Chapter / South Central Chapter in New Orleans, LA, September 21-26, 2023. The SCC Writing Retreat is an excellent opportunity to workshop manuscripts in progress, and connect with author-librarians.
