MLA Condemns Russia's Unprovoked Aggression and Violence in Ukraine

The Board of Directors, the International Cooperation Caucus, and the Health Equity and Global Health Domain Hub of the Medical Library Association (MLA) stand in support with the Ukrainian Library Association and the people of Ukraine. We condemn Russia’s unprovoked aggression and violence. Along with other information professionals, we also are concerned with the spread of misinformation and disinformation stemming from the conflict. It is vital that all people have access to valid information, and we support Ukrainian librarians who are attempting to continue to provide services and information to the people of Ukraine while protecting their institutions. Libraries and their collections are included in the cultural property covered by the 1954 Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.

The Medical Library Association stands in unity with the United States and members of the NATO Alliance who strive to protect democracy in Ukraine and seek an end to the slaughter, bloodshed, and anguish.
