Learn the steps a collection development librarian takes in subscribing to and renewing electronic resources, from understanding an institution’s technical requirements, to negotiating with a vendor on pricing and licensing, to analyzing usage statistics and bibliometric data. Learn the importance of gathering quantitative and qualitative information to make informed collections decisions so that you can better identify and provide access to key resources while also being a good steward of collections funds.


 

Webinars are part of the MLA CE Passport. The CE Passport offers access to all live and recorded webinars and all self-paced courses through December 31, 2021. October 31, 2021 is the last day to purchase a passport for 2021. Institutional and other members can purchase a site license for any MLA webinar or webinar package.

Instructor-led courses offer a small class experience (twenty-five students maximum) with two live sessions and readings, assignments, and discussions outside of sessions. Instructor-led courses are not part of the MLA CE Passport.

Self-paced courses place you in a realistic situation in which you must solve problems and complete tasks. You’ll leave a self-paced course with new knowledge and new skills. Courses include self-assessments, downloadable job aids, annotated resources, and other materials designed to help you meet the learning outcomes of the course and keep learning after you’ve finished a course. Self-paced courses are part of the MLA CE Passport.
