RTI News: RTI Fellow Sandra McCarthy, AHIP, Awarded 2020 Academic Librarian of the Year!

Sandra McCarthySandra McCarthy, AHIP, Bailey Library, Washtenaw Community College, Ann Arbor, MI, is the recipient of the 2020 Academic Librarian of the Year from the Michigan Library Association. This award recognizes the excellence and outstanding accomplishments of a librarian and their contributions to the Michigan library community. At the award presentation, it was announced that:

Sandra initiates change wherever she goes. She is the volunteer administrator and co-founder of the Michigan Virtual Reference Collaborative, which has enabled its 15 member libraries of Michigan Academic Library Association (MiALA) to seamlessly support students during the pandemic. And if that wasn’t enough, during the Winter 2020 semester she completed a study of health sciences librarians’ perceptions.

McCarthy’s study of health sciences librarians’ perceptions was the focus of her research at the MLA Research Training Institute, and her research findings will be published in the forthcoming January 2021 issue of the Journal of the Medical Library Association. Read more about her accomplishments on the Michigan Library Association awards website. Join me in congratulating McCarthy on her outstanding work and great success!

Sandra McCarthy, AHIP, is a fellow of the 2019 MLA Research Training Institute (RTI). The RTI project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (RE-95-17-0025-17).
