MLA Vision Science Caucus Statement

As vision science librarians, we work to combat blindness every day. However, as recent events have again reminded us, there are many forms of blindness, and the ingrained systemic ones, in some ways, do the most damage. Turning a blind eye is not acceptable and never was. When we choose not to see that which doesn’t affect us directly, we enable injustice to become more pervasive.

We fully support the African American Medical Librarians Alliance (AAMLA) Caucus and all our colleagues of color, and promise to be part of the solution. Mahatma Gandhi famously said, “You must be the change you want to see in the world.” We see you, we hear you, and we stand united with you.
