This was my first MLA ’19 and I looked forward to networking and making new friends. I knew attending as many events as I could was essential in meeting other medical librarians.
- Saturday’s Welcoming Session and Opening of the Hall of Exhibits was filled with medical librarians across the country. I enjoyed mingling and locating the vendors I would need to contact during the conference.
- Elsevier’s Clinical Key Boat Cruise around Chicago was one of the highlights of my trip. I was able to see the skyline at night, enjoy a delicious buffet, and speak with colleagues both from my home state and across the country.
- Wolters Kluwer hosted a special Cinco de Mayo party in Hyatt’s main ballroom on Sunday. Accessories were given out to get the attendees in a festive mood while listening to a live band. The band played Abba’s “Dancing Queen” and even got the crowd dancing to the “Macarena
and “Cupid’s Shuffle.” There was food and drinks that matched the theme and a great way for new members to meet colleagues and enjoy the festivities. - I was unable to attend Ebsco/APA’s Skydeck 360 event at the Willis Tower. However, I had heard from several colleagues that it was not to be missed. Guests enjoyed drinks and appetizers while looking out Chicago. Guests were even able to have their photos taken in the Skydeck Tower where they looked on top of the world!
