Bookstores and Libraries in Chicago

Have you ever wanted to see an underground book retrieval system at work? The Joe and Rika Mansueto Library located on the University of Chicago campus in Hyde Park will be having a private tour on Saturday May 4, 2:30 p.m., led by Andrea Twiss-Brooks, director of research and teaching support at the University of Chicago Library.

Chicago is home to wide variety of bookstores and libraries. To aid in your visits, Charlotte Beyer, AHIP, of the Local Assistance Committee has created lists of Chicago-area bookstores and libraries (downloadable PDFs). The descriptions include distance from the Hyatt Regency Chicago, directions, and a map link.

The libraries list also has tour information (when available). Libraries offering tours during MLA ’19 include the Newberry Library, University of Illinois–Chicago Library of the Health Sciences, the University of Chicago John Crerar Library, Rush University Medical Center Library, and the University of Chicago Joe and Rika Mansueto Library. Specifically, the University of Chicago Joe and Rika Mansueto Library is offering a tour for a small group on Saturday, May 4. Space is limited, so sign-up now.
