Hello everyone! I am both a first-time attendee and first-time guest blogger. Since this is my first time attending the MLA annual meeting, I decided to start my day bright and early by attending the MLA'17 New Members and First-Time Attendees Program and Breakfast.
I had a great time during the Welcome Reception last night, meeting other librarians and chatting with vendors (and collecting pens!). I spent some time at the Medscape table, which was a resource I was vaguely familiar with but had never actually explored.

The number of homeless people in Seattle and King County continues to rise, with more than 4,000 people sleeping on the streets in a recent count. Mary’s Place in Seattle—which provides services for homeless women, children, and families—has been chosen for the MLA ’17 service project.
