The Medical Library Association (MLA) and Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries have recommended that the National Library of Medicine receive at least $479.7 million in FY 2021. In their May 21st statement to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education & Related Agencies, the associations addressed new and ongoing services that benefit the public, health and health information professionals. MLA and AAHSL highlighted NLM's rapid deployment of resources related to health emergencies, including response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the opioid crisis, by providing clinical trial information, genomic sequencing data, and public access to research literature.
