In Memoriam: Donald A.B. Lindberg

LindbergDear Colleagues,

Sadly, MLA shares the news that Donald A.B. Lindberg passed away Friday evening after a short illness. We are grateful for his leadership as director of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), which has had a great impact on the profession of health sciences librarianship. In current NLM Director Patricia Brennan’s words, “His vision transformed the National Library of Medicine into a global powerhouse of health information used millions of times a day by scientists, clinicians, and patients.”

MLA awarded him Honorary Membership in 2013 and established the Donald A. B. Lindberg Research Fellowship in 2003. To learn more about his contributions, please read Dr. Lindberg’s MLA oral history.

We will share information on funeral arrangement and memorial services as it becomes available.
