Apply for the 2019 Research Training Institute

Are you a library professional who is interested in learning to do research? Are you excited at the prospect of being part of an intensive and collaborative program that takes you through a process of learning research design and completing a health information research project?

The MLA Research Training Institute for Health Sciences Librarians (RTI) was designed for you!

We are accepting applications from August 30, 2018, to December 1, 2018, for our 2019 cohort of RTI Fellows. Please follow links to the application instructions and the online application form.

What does the 2019 Research Training Institute (RTI) offer me?

The RTI is an intensive residential experience led by expert faculty that includes:

  • a curriculum tailored to participants’ interests and skills
  • small-group sessions
  • individual consultations with and mentoring by faculty for a year after the residential experience
  • pre-institute preparation and assessment
  • participation in a research community of practice that:
    • supports and encourages you in doing research
    • offers advice and guidance from peers and experts
    • helps you find research partners
    • keeps you informed of current research projects and grant opportunities

When and where is the RTI held?

The heart of the RTI is a weeklong, residential, immersive workshop held in Chicago, July 15–19, 2019.

Are scholarships available?

Yes! The institute offers numerous scholarship opportunities. Many of the twenty open slots for the institute are supported by either full or partial scholarships.
