In this January installment of the Health Humanities Caucus Quarterly Speaker Series, Dr. Rebecca Fletcher will discuss the emerging concept of place-based health. Topics will include Dr. Fletcher’s own work in Appalachia and strategies attendees can use to look at the communities in which they live and work through a new lens. I hope you can join us for this interdisciplinary exploration! Rebecca Adkins Fletcher is a medical anthropologist at East Tennessee State University. She is Associate Professor in the Department of Appalachian Studies and Assistant Director of the Center for Appalachian Studies and Services. Rebecca’s teaching and research in Appalachian Studies focus on health, environment, and community engagement. She is co-editor of two books, Appalachia Revisited: Regional Perspectives on Place, Tradition, and Progress (2017) and Engaging Appalachia: A Guidebook for Building Capacity and Sustainability (2023).
