Woodland Park Zoo

Think big cities are a zoo?  Planned for some extra sightseeing in Seattle but haven't decided where to go?  Visit Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo, which hosts the largest live animal collection in Washington State and is home to 40 endangered and 17 threatened animal species.  The Zoo is an award winner, receiving top education awards, conservation awards and exhibit awards for the naturalistic environments for the animals.

The Zoo’s 92 acres feature different natural habitats from an African Savanna, Australasia, Humboldt Penguins, Northern Trails, Temperate Forests, Tropical Asia and Tropical Rain Forest.  The Butterfly Garden opens on Saturday, May 27th, and other exhibits with hands-on or up close features include the Willawong Station Bird Feeding, Family Farm, Giraffe Up-Close, Sloth Bear, Baby Gorilla Yola and Ambassador animals.  Look for reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and plants throughout the zoo.

Can’t wait?  Check out their live animal web cams!  The Zoo is open from 9:30 am to 6 pm daily – check out the site for ticket prices, maps and directions.
