What’s New with the Affordable Care Act and What You Need to Know About It

This webinar will provide an update on the most relevant aspects of the ACA to librarians. While initial ACA outreach focused on health insurance enrollment, librarians’ focus can turn toward the use of health insurance now that so many individuals are covered for the first time. Those who are covered under the Health Insurance Marketplaces may be unfamiliar with health insurance terminology and how to navigate the health care system with their health insurance coverage. This webinar will offer guidance on resources that librarians can use to support individuals’ use of health insurance. This webinar will also include a discussion of where to obtain data sets that are relevant to the ACA to support researchers who are seeking to observe trends since ACA implementation, including Health Insurance Marketplace data and data about people insured under the ACA. In addition to highlighting resources regarding these aspects, the webinar will offer examples of partnerships that librarians can build with ACA practitioners and community members and share case studies of librarians who have achieved successful ACA outreach.

*This webinar can be applied toward the MLA Consumer Health Information Specialization.
