Welcoming All Pronouns at MLA’18

This year the National Planning Committee is pleased to offer conference attendees the option to make their pronouns known. MLA’18 encourages those who feel comfortable to indicate their personal pronouns, to create an inclusive environment for LGBTQ attendees.

You are already familiar with the feminine and masculine pronouns, she and he. However, many individuals, whether they identify as transgender or non-binary, may not feel comfortable using or being assigned a gendered pronoun. Instead, they might use gender-neutral pronouns, such as singular they or ze. Sharing your personal pronouns and asking others for their personal pronouns are great ways to create a safe space for all colleagues.

Badge stickers will be available near the registration desk at MLA‘18. He, She, They, Ze… you tell us!
