Update from the MLA/RTI Value Studies Working Group

Since 2016, the Evidence You Can Use To Communicate Library Value page on the MLA site has highlighted studies that demonstrate the tremendous value health sciences librarians bring to their institutions and communities. This year the MLA/RTI Value Studies Working Group has been tasked with updating the page for 2023. The Working Group has already found important new studies that show our impact on clinical decisions, patient care, health profession education, evidence syntheses, scholarly research, and institutional bottom lines. We are also actively searching for value studies in different domains, such as data management, patient safety, and hospital librarianship.

Our goal is to communicate our profession’s value through selective use of the strongest evidence. If you are aware of a study that you think would be relevant to this group, please send the citations to Mark MacEachern (markmac@umich.edu), Terry Jankowski (uwterryj@gmail.com), and Susan Lessick (slessick@uci.edu).

We would also like to acknowledge the great contributions of the Working Group. Thank you:
