Shipman Oral History Published on MLANET

Jean P. Shipman, AHIP, FMLA (interviewed by Rick B. Forsman, FMLA), was executive director of the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library at the University of Utah. She was also health sciences library director and associate university librarian at Virginia Commonwealth University. Combining her varied experience in five academic health sciences libraries, two Regional Medical Libraries, and a hospital library, she capped her career at Elsevier as vice president of global library relations. She is recognized for her contributions to scholarly communications, innovation, health literacy, and mentoring. She served as MLA president in 2006–07 and received the Marcia C. Noyes Award in 2017.
