MORE ICS ACTIVITIES @ MLA 2014

Dear ICS Members,

With only 10 weeks to go, planning of ICS activities is in “high gear”. Please see a list of activities below and to add these events to your schedule for Chicago!    Very soon, you will start hearing more about each activity from the activity organizers.

As always, the ICS Section Program will be a highlight of ICS activities at MLA 2014.  This year’s program theme is “M-Health and Information Innovations: Making an Impact in Global Health” and will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 10:30 am -11:55 am. We have a fabulous line up of speakers scheduled. Thanks to Gupreet (Preet) Rana, ICS’s Incoming Chair, for organizing this session.

The MLA/ICS International Job Exchange Task Force will host an Open Forum on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 3:30 pm-4:25 pm to promote the program, answer questions, and get feedback from interested individuals and organizations.

Also, ICS will participate in the Section Council hosted poster section hosted on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 3:30 pm-4:25 pm.  This is the first Section Poster we have ever done in order to promote the ICS and attract membership.  We will need your help to staff the Poster and talk to prospective members about ICS.

Last, but not the least, ICS Dining Circles will bring people interested in international cooperation together over lunches/dinners during MLA 2014.  Look for sign-up information as we get closer to the meeting.

If you are interested in volunteering to help out with an activity or event, please let the contact person for the activity know.   In particular, we are looking for someone to be the official ICS Blogger.   If you are interested, please let Gurpreet Rana or myself know.

See you all in Chicago!

Kathy Kwan, ICS Chair
