Today, MLA submitted comments that support the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Healthy People 2030 Objectives.
Healthy People focuses on critical public health promotion and disease prevention topics by addressing the leading causes of morbidity and mortality and driving action at the national, state, and local levels.
MLA's comments focused on objectives related to the creation, distribution, and accessibility of timely, evidence-based health information designed for health care providers, their patients, and the general public. The Association noted that while the Healthy People 2030 Framework cites health literacy as a requirement for achieving health and well being, the phrase "health literacy" never appears in the list of objectives. MLA also emphasized our position that having reliable access to trustworthy and understandable health information is a critical aspect of overall health and well-being and can be improved using available knowledge.

MLA thanks Governmental Relations Committee (GRC) Chair-designate Maggie Ansell, AHIP and GRC member Chris Shaffer, AHIP for writing these comments.
