Looking Inside Ourselves

Mindful practice has been around for many years but has really come to the forefront of medicine in recent years as the compassionate connection between caregivers and patients has once again become a focus of healthcare.  Can we open ourselves to be more compassionate to others?  How do we share our experiences to reduce our stress, improve our health and how we care for others?  In our institutions we can support programs such as Schwartz Rounds, CCare and others.  As Librarians we can provide resources amongst other things to our caregivers and patrons.  Below are a few titles referenced by Julia F. Sollenberger, AHIP, FMLA that would be core titles for a Mindfulness Collection or could be recommended reads on Mindfulness.

Stress Reduction - Jon Kabat-Zinn

The Emotional Life of Your Brain - Richard Davidson

The Mindful Brain - Daniel J Siegel

Why Kindness is Good for you - David R Hamilton

Search Inside Yourself - Chade Meng Tan

Emotional Intelligence - Daniel Goleman

Social Intelligence - Daniel Goleman
